Experience

Senior Technical Adviser on trade promotion & facilitation and export development with over 25 years of professional management and business development experience in Southeast Asia - as corporate executive, as entrepreneur and as individual consultant in the private sector as well as in technical assistance for international development.

Engaged in sector development with focus on securing income opportunities for rural poor and vulnerable households through generating and leveraging private sector investment in value added market chains. Specifically interested in truly inclusive (pro poor and gender mainstreaming) socio-economic development through empowerment.  (Empowerment is understood as the combination of freedom, opportunity and capacity to take strategic life decisions.)

Since 2001, project management (team leader) for the EU, for UN agencies and IFC/World Bank in trade related capacity building of public & private sector entities (TSI/BSO and SME) in Mekong Region countries. Familiar with the development needs and challenges of public and private sector agencies and enterprises, as well as with the interests & concerns of donors and project implementing partners. 

Fluent in English & German with working knowledge of French, Italian and Thai. German national, resident of Thailand.
